This is a tiny watermelon (a quarter-melon is what we are dubbing it) that Katie and I grew on our balcony. After waiting patiently (and remembering that balconies are not the natural environment for farming watermelons) it seemed that it had reached its peak size and we decided to enjoy the fruits of our labor. It was remarkably delicious and sweet, and lots of joy was derived from the whole experience. The peppers are finally turning yellow and red and I'm really excited about THAT!

I have this theory on small food....that it's better than large food. I hope your melon experience verified that. Actually, it's maybe more a stigma than a theory, because that little watermelon looks more tantalizing than any other watermelon I've ever seen.

i expected nothing less than the likes of such an astonishing, perhaps unprecendented (and remarkably cute) feat in domestic agriculture would merit the proper scene for the photographic documentation of one katie kranyak. i have not been disappointed.
